"I decided to come to the University of Leeds because of their Access to Leeds scheme. The Access to Leeds is a unique access course which opens doors for students that come from a variety of different backgrounds, allowing them to attend university. As part of this scheme, I was given the opportunity to develop essential skills necessary for tackling university assessments. The access course helped me feel more prepared, dedicated and enthusiastic when starting the course in September."

Nutrition BSc
Claire did her undergraduate degree at Leeds and then went on to do a Masters in Nutrition at our University. She's "always been interested in the role that nutrition can play in a person's health. In school I particularly liked science and so I wanted to choose a degree that was heavily science-based and incorporated food and diet. I also really enjoy cooking and being in the kitchen, so the practical elements of the course appealed to me too."
From her experience Claire believe that the best aspects of studying a Leeds degree is that it "allows students to customise their own learning. Each year I have 10 credits to study discovery modules that can be from any discipline. So far, I have been able to improve my employability and have expanded my knowledge across different scientific fields. Food Science and Nutrition at Leeds has unique modules such as the food allergy module, while sharing some modules with the other degree programs, allowing students tailor their learning based on their interests while having rounded knowledge.
