Profile

I did my undergraduate degree in Durham Univerisity and graduate as Master Chemistry, therefore I have a quite good understanding of organic, inorganic, physical and biological chemistry. My master project was heavily focused on the development of mass spectrometry in analysing less polar compound such as cholesterol and plant sterols.

Research interests

My research interest is mainly focused on biomonitoring of mycotoxins, which monitor the concentration of biomarkers in human samples using technology from analytical chemistry. The data obtained from biomonitoring can be used to conduct risk assessments, evaluate health effect of the target analyte and estimate exposure levels (if the ADME data are well-established).

The analytical methods that I am particularly interested in are liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA).

The mycotoxins that I am working on are mainly deoxynivalenol, aflatoxin, ochratoxin, fumonisin, and zearalenone.
