Dr Mat Francis
I am currently working as a Research Fellow studying ultrasonic propagation in complex media. My current research is investigating different acoustic techniques for the characterisation of particles in solutions.
I began my research career at the Australian National University where I graduated with a PhD in Surface Chemistry in 2008. Following my postgraduate studies I moved to Western Australia to support the bid for the National Centre of Excellence in Desalination (Australia).
For the past ten years I have worked on a wide range of different desalination technologies including the thermal, membrane and electrical treatment of seawater, ground and surface waters and mine produce water. I have also continued the research I began as a postgraduate student by studying the interactions between particles and the effect these forces have on macroscopic properties.
