What course are you studying?

Human Geography at Centre for Spatial Analysis and Policy - School of Geography

Why did you decide to study a PhD/Masters at the University of Leeds?

The University of Leeds has one of the best School of Geography in the world.

What has been the best aspect of studying on your course and at the University so far and why?

The school has a lot of diversity in the Geography field. Supported by great facilities, access to lots of training, and a great library. As an international student, its help me a lot.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have completed.

It’s still in progress, right now I am modelling the flood in the tropic area to implementing Natural Flood Management concept. It’s exciting because it’s new.

What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?

Leeds is a nice city and suitable to support a student’s life. The city centre is located near campus, so we can have almost everything.

What are your ambitions for the future?

To become a Professor in Spatial Analysis, especially in flood modelling and forecasting.

What experiences at Leeds do you think will help you in your future career?

Because I will have responsibility for my university (Institut Teknologi Sumatera) development in the future, I will copy the system in the University of Leeds to my university, like the library system, VOB, etc. And I will start to make the non-academic activity like Leeds city council do to help students reduce the stress (concert, carnival, etc).

With a lot of training and seminars that I have attended, it definitely will become my ability that supports my work in the future.

What would you say to students coming to do the same course?

Welcome and Good Luck.
