Human geography field trips

Year 1: Leeds, Yorkshire

Leeds town hall at night with city lights and sunset sky

For first year human geographers – fieldwork happens close to home. We explore whether Leeds is a clone city in terms of retail outlets, consider how different social groups experience the city, and visit the Thackeray Medical Museum to see how conditions and mortality rates have improved over the years.

The main objectives of these excursions are to consider some important issues discussed in lectures, seminar classes and group work, and to provide further opportunity at the start of your first year to interact and socialise with BA teaching staff and other students in a very informal way.
