Physical geography field trips
Year 1: Malham Tarn, Yorkshire

First year physical geographers spend four days at Malham Tarn in the Yorkshire Dales – one of only eight upland alkaline lakes in Europe and a National Nature Reserve.
Here we research the unique landscape of the Yorkshire Dales in terms of geology, geomorphology, hydrology, ecology and soils.
We also investigate how the landscape has changed in relation to climate change and human impacts in the past, and how it may change in future.
