Why did you decide to study at the University of Leeds?
Because it offered me a flexible programme with a variety of modules from science, economic, policy and social topics.
What has been the best aspect of studying on your course and at the University so far and why?
The course gave me the opportunity to understand how the international climate policy is elaborated and negotiated. Also, enriched my experience with the different ideas of development that international students have according to their culture.
Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have completed.
I am proud to have participated in the Feeling at Home program in Leeds, which helps international students to improve their understanding of British culture.
What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?
It offers several activities across the year. Always you can find something to do, visit, participate, collaborate or even create. Also, Leeds is cheaper than London which still is a plus when you are a student.
What are your ambitions for the future?
Return to my job in my country and continue learning new things to help people make their dreams come true.
What do experiences at Leeds you think will help you in your future career?
(I do not think in my “future career” because I already have twelve years of working experience. Therefore, I will answer this question considering my current career)
I think that the experience of studying abroad improved my resilience and adaptability to different environments and cultures. Also, I developed in a more significant way other skills such as time management, planning, independent study, and more important, a second language.
What would you say to students coming to do the same course?
I would recommend to be open to different ideas and points of view and to exchange opinions with international students. I would like to see more students with a collaborative attitude instead of competing among them. This experience is not just about the grade, involves much more if you are open to new thoughts and ideas.
