Research interests

My research interest revolves around the micro- and mesoscale processes and how they could influence the macro scale phenomena such as regional tectonics, behaviour of deformation, metamorphism etc. In particular, I am interested in quantifying microstructures and integrating microstructural process to understand basic physico-chemical interactions of rock-fluids under different P/T conditions. Thus I am working with an array of rocks from the New England Fold Belt (Australia), Fiordland (New Zealand), Connemara (Ireland) and Greenland starting from a plutonic Granitoid to a melt percolating shear zone. Fields of research interest include: (i) structural geology and large scale tectonics, (ii) microstructural and-chemical analysis, (iii) Electron back scatter diffraction studies (EBSD) and microdynamic modelling (platform Elle (http://microstructure.info/)), (iv) heating of rocks and analogue materials, (v) field mapping, (vi) rheology and deformation mechamisms in rocks.
