I am a Masters research student. One of my study objective is to understand the linkage between metamorphic processes and structural deformation. I am continuing my education under the supervision of Professor Sandra Piazolo and Dr Thomas Mueller. We are working in the subduction zone of relict Tethys ocean that had been closed during the Late Cretaceous period at the northern side of Turkey (or southern boundary of Laurasia continent).

This project expects to achieve the model of the tectono-metamorphic evolution as well as its metamorphic conditions and the probable deformation mechanisms in order to put forth a prominent demonstration of the shear zone. The reasons to choose this area are a focus on the exact tectono-metamorphic relations, structural imbrication of the units and importance of shear zone on the fluid activity that causes the retrograde metamorphism in the field. In this case, the project will be developed under those expectations.
