Suzanne Stas


Suzanne is a PhD candidate in the School of Earth and Environment. Her work focusses on the ecology and conservation of tropical forests. During her PhD, Suzanne studies the impacts of forest degradation and recovery on carbon storage and tree diversity in forests in Central-Vietnam.

Prior to starting her PhD, Suzanne worked for the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), WWF, Institute of Tropical Forest Conservation and SNV Netherlands Development Organisation. Her projects focussed on forest biomass and carbon storage, REDD+, biodiversity, non-timber forest product harvesting and sustainable land use planning in Indonesia, Uganda, DR Congo, Cameroon and Romania. She holds a Masters degree in Environmental biology and a BSc in Biology, both from Utrecht University.
