Dr Jannik Giesekam

Profile

Jannik is a Research Fellow within the RCUK funded Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS). His research within CREDS focusses on the role of industrial energy demand reduction in securing a low carbon future. Jannik is also currently leading a small project funded by the DecarboN8 network, focussed on capital carbon emissions from transportation infrastructure.

In addition to his academic research (see examples below), Jannik has undertaken work for the Green Construction Board, the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) and the Scottish Government. This includes the development and provision of National Indicators. He has given invited talks, contributed to guidance documents, served on steering groups and acted as a technical reviewer for groups such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC). He also undertakes a small number of consultancy projects each year – recent clients include Zero Waste Scotland, the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
