Research Fellow, Tropical Deforestation and Air Quality, University of Leeds, Dec 2018 - Present
I'm currently working on tropical deforestation and air quality as part of the DECAF project (DEforestation - Climate - Atmospheric composition - Fire interactions and feedbacks), funded by the European Research Council, with principal investigator Dominick Spracklen.
Postdoctoral Research Assistant, Indian air quality, University of Leeds, Sep 2018 - Nov 2018
Follow on work from my PhD using state-of-the-science models on high-performance computers to simulate air pollution and quantify the health impacts of exposure. The principal investigator was Dominick Spracklen.
PhD, Ambient air quality and human health in India, University of Leeds, Jun 2015 - Sep 2018. Awarded January 2019.
Indian air quality is poor, worsening, and understudied. I quantified the contribution of different sources to the disease burden from ambient air pollution exposure in India and the effects of future air pollution control pathways. I combined high-resolution computer simulations, new observations, and updated exposure-response relationships. The disease burden attributable to air pollution exposure in India is currently substantial and is likely to increase in the future unless stringent air pollution management provides large emission reductions. A key focus should be to reduce the combustion of solid fuels. Supervisors were Dominick Spracklen, Stephen Arnold, Christoph Knote, Alan Williams. I was part of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Bioenergy.
