I chose the Exploration Geophysics Masters at Leeds as I was looking for a challenging course with good industry connections and a focus on preparing students for the workplace. With its high employment rates and a history of producing high calibre students across both environmental and mineral exploration geophysics fields, Leeds University was the obvious choice and did not disappoint. The course builds on the scientific and mathematical knowledge I had gained through my first degree in physics and astronomy, teaching me how to apply my knowledge to new fields and in practical, real world problems. The geology and geophysics aspects helped tailor these skills further, whilst projects, presentations and networking events gave me the experience and confidence I would need in the workplace. During the course I made good industry and academic connections, as well as life-long friends. Studying at Leeds provided me with a host of skills and helped open doors to a successful career in the oil and gas industry.
