Nigel is an experienced executive and non-executive director holding board director roles at major international companies working in the UK and overseas for both private and public sector clients. Nigel is a director and former President of the Leeds, York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and is also a director of Leeds and Partners the inward investment agency for Leeds.
During his career he has provided advice on transport, regeneration and sustainability, and he has been involved in numerous major transport and development projects in the UK and overseas aimed at revitalising and connecting cities. He now runs his own businesses providing consultancy across the built environment and cities as well as support in strategic planning, leadership development and innovation.
Since 2008 Nigel has been a Governor at the University of Leeds sitting on the Audit and Risk and Strategy committees. Nigel is also a Visiting Professor at the Institute for Transport Studies where he provides particular support on engagement with businesses and specialises in strategies to integrate transport, land use and sustainable economic development.
He is also a Non Executive Director of Ahead Partnership which is an independent not for profit company that helps businesses support schools on a range of student development programmes and also to help business get involved in the social and economic regeneration of cities.
Nigel is currently Chair of the Centre for Low Carbon Futures, which is collaboration around sustainable development research between the universities of Birmingham, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York.
