Dr Sally Cairns

I became a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Leeds in 2019. My role is to focus on aviation, as part of a project on long distance travel taking place within the Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions. I have undertaken research into transport policy, traffic reduction and travel behaviour change for over 25 years. Outputs comprise over 100 publications, including book chapters, journal papers, research reports and magazine articles, with papers presented at numerous conferences and seminars. I have given invited research presentations in both the UK, and in Japan, Korea, Australia, Sweden, Spain, Italy and Germany. I have also provided invited input to the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee’s investigation into behaviour change, the All Party Parliamentary Sustainable Aviation Group, the Conservative Party’s Quality of Life Commission and SERA, the Labour Party’s Environment Campaign. I wrote a column for Town and Country Planning magazine for 8 years. I am also an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at UCL, and run my own research company.
