Automated Vehicles Testing with Human-Like Traffic

In this User Engagement & Partnership Development project we are investigating methods for virtual testing of automated vehicles, together with Five AI, a subsidiary of Bosch. Specifically, we are evaluating the use of a human-like pedestrian model developed in the project EPSRC COMMOTIONS, for testing and tuning of automated vehicles (AVs). We are integrating the pedestrian model in the open source simulation environment CARLA, and co-simulating it with open source AV planners, to investigate methods for and the implications of using more human-like road user models as part of AV development tools.
