Fatemeh Sadat Mirnajafizadeh

Profile

I am a PhD student in the Human Factors and Safety Group at the Institute for Transport Studies. My research focuses on understanding how Human–Machine Interface (HMI) design can support drivers’ mode awareness during transitions between different levels of automation in automated vehicles. These transitions can create confusion about drivers’ responsibilities, and my work aims to identify interface design strategies that clearly communicate system status and upcoming changes.

Research interests

  • Human–Machine Interface (HMI) design for automated vehicles
  • Driver mental models
  • Driver mode awareness and mode confusion during automation transitions
