Profile

I am a PhD candidate in the School of Geography undertaking a project titled ‘Quantifying the role of land cover in ‘slowing the flow’ for flood risk reduction in a changing climate’

I am also a Senior Consultant at Tetra Tech where I specialise in automated GIS processes for the UK wastewater industry. These processes focus on understanding how natural processes interact with urban drainage systems, to better plan solutions to mitigate Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) spills. These process specifically predict the risk of sewer inflow and infiltration (I&I) and identify opportunities for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).

Research interests

My research interests involve integrating academic research in land management and hydrology with downstream urban drainage risks as well has fluvial impacts.

I am specifically interested in:

  • Understanding the sources of urban drainage inflow and infiltration (I&I) from the natural landscape and now catchment scale land management can influence these downstream risks.
  • Integrating landscape scale hydrological models, with land management representation, with industry standard urban drainage hydraulic models.
  • Working with UK water companies to increase capability and understanding of Nature Based Solutions (NBS) and risks

Qualifications

  • BSc Environment, Economics and Ecology, University of York
  • MSc(Eng) Environmental Engineering and Project Management, University of Leeds
