Maryam Almulla

Profile

I am a Teaching Assistant in the Clinical Nutrition Department at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, where I completed my bachelor’s degree with first-class honours in Clinical Nutrition. I subsequently pursued my Master’s degree at Nova Southeastern University in USA, further strengthening my academic and research foundation in nutrition science.

In 2026, I joined the University of Leeds to undertake my PhD, with a research focus on liver metabolism under a biochemistry specialization. My long-term goal is to become a university professor and contribute to advancing clinical nutrition education and research within my home institution.

Research interests

My research interests include obesity management, eating disorders, weight stigma, and the biochemical mechanisms underlying metabolic health. I have completed specialized training in nutritional support in cancer care and the GLIM criteria for diagnosing malnutrition, accredited by European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I am actively involved as a member of the Internship Committee for Clinical Nutrition within the Saudi Society for Clinical Nutrition, where I contribute to the development and support of clinical nutrition training programs.
