Nanoparticle Emissions From The Transport Sector: Health and Policy Impacts

nPETS proposes a cross-sectoral concept that describes the nPETS research activities to assess the emissions of nanoparticles from all transport modes. Quantification and monitoring of sub 100 nm emissions is performed both in a controlled laboratory environment and in field studies.

Particles collected from these studies is characterized in terms of size, morphology, and chemical composition linked with the different sources. Toxicology studies based on sampled particles from filters, as well as in situ cell exposure, is performed.

The nPETS approach includes a transfer of knowledge between the partners as well as tolegislative bodies. In particular, databases of sub 100 nm particles from different sources, also linked to the locations, will be provided to further aid legislation work. All of this serves as an input for a review of future sub 100 nm emission health policies and their economic impact.
