Profile

I am an urban planner from Bangladesh and a PhD researcher at the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI), School of Earth, Environment and Sustainability, University of Leeds. I started my PhD in 2022 and am funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK.

My PhD research focuses on social vulnerability to riverbank erosion: two case studies from Bangladesh. My research examines how riverbank erosion affects households and communities, with particular attention to social vulnerability, livelihood impacts, migration, disaster preparedness, and recovery. The research provides household-level evidence on how vulnerability and experiences of riverbank erosion vary across different stages of exposure.

I did my Bachelor in Urban and Regional Planning from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. I pursued my MURP degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I did my Master of Science in Infrastructure Planning from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. I am working as an associate professor, in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Chittagong University of Technology (CUET) (currently on study leave). I am also a member of the Bangladesh Institute of Planners.
