Profile
I am a second-year PhD student based in the School of Earth and Environment, based in the Earth Surface Science Institute (ESSI). I am funded by the NERC Yorkshire Environmental Science Doctoral Training Network (YES-DTN). I am a biogeochemist and numeric modeller, who is interested in understanding changes in elemental cycling over Earth’s history.
Before starting my PhD, I completed an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at the University of Leeds. Where my dissertation project focused on understanding the relationship between land use change and basin characteristics on river peak flows. I then went on to complete my research Master’s in Earth Science at the University of Leeds where I explored iron’s role in deep ocean oxygenation and its links to the supercontinent cycles.
I am currently a PGR representative for the Earth Surface Science Institute (ESSI) and part of the Earth System Science Group committee.
Research interests
My PhD focuses on understanding the long-term controls on organic carbon burial in sediments. Specifically, using biogeochemical modelling to look at how changes in mineral-organic interactions impact the evolution of the Earth’s climate and surface conditions through changes in global carbon and oxygen cycling.
