Profile

I am currently pursuing a PhD in the field of environmental policy and governance at the Sustainability Research Institute, School of Earth, Environment and Sustainability, University of Leeds. My research examines actors, policy networks, and sustainability-oriented policy change in urban tourism governance in Indonesia. My project explores how actor positions, power relations, and coalition dynamics shape policy processes and influence sustainability-oriented policy change in urban tourism contexts. Situated within broader debates on sustainability in the Global South, the research critically engages with how global sustainability frameworks travel across contexts and how they are negotiated within decentralised and hybrid governance settings. In this sense, decolonial perspectives provide a critical framing for examining how environmental, social, political, and economic priorities are interpreted, contested, and institutionalised in Indonesian urban tourism governance.

My academic background includes a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, both focusing on environmental policy and governance in my thesis work. Prior to joining the University of Leeds, I spent nearly a decade as a lecturer in the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, after previously working as a researcher at the Centre for Population and Policy Studies, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Research interests

My research interest lies in governance and policy processes shaping sustainability transitions, particularly in the Global South contexts. I am interested in how actors, coalitions and networks interact within policy arenas, and how power and discourse influence policy change. My project engages with Global South and decolonial perspectives to understand how sustainability agendas are negotiated across institutional and political settings, drawing on mixed-method, network-oriented approaches to policy analysis.
