Dr Khushboo Gurung

Profile

I am a Research Fellow working on incorporating a more dyanmic vegetation model within the climate-chemical model SCION in order to determine the role of plant evolution on the Phanerozoic climate. During my PhD, I developed a fast vegetation model (FLORA) and linked it back to SCION (SCI-FI) which can be run dynamically for millions of years. The inclusion of a more comprehensive interaction between plants, palaeo-climate and palaeo-geography, creates a better understanding of how plants have helped shape Earth’s past climate. I continue to develop this model further and try to answer how the evolution of plants and plant physiology has shaped our past climate.
