Profile

I am a climate scientist interested in simple climate modelling and climate impacts. I’m interested in simple representations of the climate, and the interactions between the climate and other parts of the human-Earth system.

Research interests

Current work

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher on the EU WorldTrans project, working on the creation of a new Integrated Assessment Model based on the principles of System Dynamics. We are looking to incorporate feedbacks between the climate and human systems – climate impacts – in this global-scale model, to study the dynamics of future scenarios. We are implementing a reduced version of the FaIR simple climate model in our IAM to model the climate response.

Previous projects

Before this I undertook a postdoctoral role on the EU CONSTRAIN project here at Leeds. As part of this I studied the method of pattern scaling as a means to approximate local climate responses given global mean temperatures.

I completed my PhD at Imperial College London, using the UKESM Earth System Model to study the climate and human health effects of regional aerosol emissions in the SSPs, with a focus on Africa.
