Profile
David Brady is Centre Coordinator at Space Hub Yorkshire (SHY), a UK Space Agency-funded regional space cluster based at the University of Leeds. One of the most impactful space clusters in the UK, SHY brings together regional government bodies, higher education institutions, local councils and commercial partners to grow Yorkshire's space economy – connecting businesses, academics and educators with the networks, funding and opportunities they need to thrive.
In his role, David coordinates cluster activities across the region, supports the delivery of SHY's grant programmes and strategic objectives, and acts as a key point of contact across SHY's diverse partnership network. He also brings creativity to the role – applying professional skills in design, digital content production and visual communication to develop SHY's marketing collateral, online presence and promotional materials. David also manages elements of project management, financial management, and reporting oversight of UK-EONS, the UK Earth Observation Network for Sustainability, a Connected Capabilities Network funded by the Satellite Applications Catapult.
This creative thread runs throughout David's life. Alongside his work at SHY, he is a freelance sound designer, composer and audio producer specialising in sound for moving image and other bespoke pieces. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control and a BSc (Hons) in Music Technology, and is a classically trained pianist. His work spans solo electronic releases, collaborations and audio production, all of which informs the detail-oriented approach he brings to everything he does.
David combines the coordination and stakeholder engagement demands of a fast-growing national programme with the creative and technical instincts of an experienced audio professional. This blend of analytical rigour and creative thinking underpins his contribution to Space Hub Yorkshire and to the University of Leeds.
