This bursary will be automatically awarded to you if you’re a former student of the University of Leeds studying for a postgraduate qualification in the Faculty of Environment. Courses that are run in conjunction with other universities are excluded from the Bursary.

    The University will pay 10% of the self-funded portion of your fees for each year of the course. If no fees are paid then no bursary is awarded.

Bursaries of £10,000 each to be awarded in open competition from British Universities running a full time Transport Masters course. The aim of the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund in offering bursaries is to enrich the supply of transport professionals within the United Kingdom.

    Candidates are required to demonstrate that they have long term UK residential rights and intentions. They must also demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a career in transport in the UK. Applicants must have been accepted for a full time Masters course in transport at a UK university. Applicants must have a first degree of at least a 2:1 standard.

    The value of each scholarship depends on the award. This can range from partial to full tuition fee. Some scholarships may also include a monthly stipend towards living costs.

    You must be a UK/EU fee rated applicant who has been offered a place on any of the following courses: MSc Exploration Geophysics; MSc Structural Geology with Geophysics; MSc Engineering Geology. You must either hold or be expecting to achieve 2:1+ or equivalent in your undergraduate degree.

    The scholarship will be awarded as a partial or full fee reduction, depending the value of the scholarship.

    Unsuccessful scholarship applicants for the Structural Geology with Geophysics scholarship and Exploration Geophysics industry scholarship, who are not in receipt of any other source of funding, will be considered for the Petroleum Leeds Scholarship (one award per programme of £5,000) Unsuccessful scholarship applicants for the Exploration Geophysics industry scholarship, who are not in receipt of any other source of funding, will be considered for the Marsden Alumnus Scholarship (one award, usually covering the programme Tuition Fee).

The Trustees of the Brian Large Bursary Fund are offering Bursaries of £7,000 for competitive applications from British Universities running a full time Transport Masters course.

  • Who is eligible

    Applicants must have been accepted for a full time Masters course in transport for 2019/20. While no minimum level of first degree is required, the Trustees expect young graduates to have at least a 2.2, preferably a 2.1. However, they are willing to relax that requirement for outstanding mature students.

    Students in receipt of other awards totalling more than £5,000 are not eligible for a Brian Large Masters Bursary. The award of a Brian Large Bursary should be central to their decision to pursue a transport Masters. Since it is the aim of the Brian Large Bursary Fund to enrich the supply of transport planning professionals within the United Kingdom, candidates are required to be British or to have long term UK residential rights and intentions.

    Any international applicant who has been offered a place on any of the following undergraduate degree courses: BSc/MEnv Geological Sciences, BSc/MGeophys Geophysical Sciences, BSc/MEnv Environmental Science or BSc/MEnv Meteorology and Climate Science.

    There is no separate application process for this scholarship; however, you will need to confirm that you meet the criteria listed below before you are able to receive the £2,000 reduction on your fees per year of study.

    You must be self-funding, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto Level 1 and be classified as international for tuition fee purposes. You must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award. You must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60% or above with all modules passed at the first attempt. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. £2,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year. If you’re a self-funding student who’s successfully completed the International Foundation Year (IFY) at the University of Leeds you’ll also be eligible for this scholarship.
