- Thesis title: Modelling the Extracellular Matrix of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the Cystic Fibrosis Lung
- Supervisors: Dr Helen Chappell, Dr James Smith, Dr Andrew J Scott
Profile
From 2018-2022, I studied and completed an Integrated MAsters (MBiol) in Biotechnology and Microbiology at the University of York. I began my part-time post-graduate researcher position at the University of Leeds in October of 2022.
Research interests
Currently, I am interested in exploring the three-dimensional structure of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm through the use of molecular modelling to improve understanding regarding how its individual components may interact with each other and the chemical environment. For instance, the mechanisms underpinning the ability of Pseudomonas biofilms to establish chronic infections in the cystic fibrosis lung through the exploitation of its hyper-concentrated mucus and elevate calcium ion concentration for its long-term adherence.
