Profile
I am an experienced academic dietitian with teaching and research experience spanning universities and organisations in the UK and Australia. I deliver engaging teaching using a variety of teaching modes and assessment types. I have completed further training in teaching and learning and have an interest in effective pedagogy and learning. Prior to joining the University of Leeds I was course leader and responsible for development of a new Masters of Dietetics programme in the UK and responsible for breadth of other nutrition modules and student projects. In Australia I also taught on nutrition, science and exercise science modules.

Research interests
I have a variety of research interests but am particularly focused on chronic disease prevention using behaviour change and health promotion. Recent research includes dietary diversity and physical activity during the Covid pandemic in Mauritius, and influences on adoption of a health reporting app in Mexico. My publications span topics including community gardens, weight loss dietary adherence, cardiometabolic factors and MUFA and workplace health and research in teaching and learning. I am an active research supervisor and am open to PhD student projects.
I have also been a co-investigator on several government and university awards and grants and received recogntion for best clinical abstract (BDA, 2017), best (PhD) student oral presentation (Nutrition Society of Australia) and a new idea and early career researcher award (Nutrition Society of Australia).

Student education
At the University of Leeds I teach personalised nutrition and health promotion plus topics including; lifespan nutrition, metabolism, dietary assessment methods and sustainable food consumption. I am the fitness for practice lead for nutrition students. In addition I supervise student dissertations, capstone projects and PhD projects in a variety of clinical and public health nutrition topics.
