Dr Molly McNae

Profile

I received an integrated master’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Leeds in 2019 and completed my PhD in the Children’s Cancer Research Group, also at the University of Leeds, in 2024. My PhD investigated targeting MYC-C in Ewing sarcoma through the inhibition of the Aurora kinases.

During my PhD I worked part time as a Senior Research Technician, also within the Children’s Cancer Research Group during which time I assessed the effects of radiation and WEE1 inhibition on the DNA damage response in Ewing sarcoma cells, in collaboration with the ICR.

I currently work as a Research Support Technician in the School of Food Science & Nutrition. I provide laboratory and infrastructure support to lab users, and work on research projects when required. Recently, I have been working in cell culture, performing RNA extraction and RT-qPCR as well as protein extractions and western blotting. I am a Staff Sustainability Architect and have successfully led a project to achieve LEAF bronze certification across all research laboratories within the School in my first year
