Masters

We offer a number of scholarship opportunities to support and reward students from around the world. If you are a UK or EU student you may be able to receive a government postgraduate loan.

2019-20

This bursary will be automatically awarded to you if you’re a former student of the University of Leeds studying for a postgraduate qualification in the Faculty of Environment. Courses that are run in conjunction with other universities are excluded from the Bursary.

  • Value - what money is on offer

    The University will pay 10% of the self-funded portion of your fees for each year of the course. If no fees are paid then no bursary is awarded.

Based on the School's long history of turning out well qualified graduates, we have strong company links which typically offer a number of studentships available for UK/EU students (full and partial awards).

  • Value - what money is on offer

    The value of each scholarship depends on the award. This can range from partial to full tuition fee. Some scholarships may also include a monthly stipend towards living costs.

  • Who is eligible

    You must be a UK/EU fee rated applicant who has been offered a place on any of the following courses: MSc Exploration Geophysics; MSc Structural Geology with Geophysics; MSc Engineering Geology. You must either hold or be expecting to achieve 2:1+ or equivalent in your undergraduate degree.

  • How to apply

    To apply, you should download an application form. Completed application forms should be submitted by email in accordance with the deadlines.

    • Engineering Geology - Sunday 24 March 2019

    Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an Interview Day, which will take place at the School.

  • Conditions

    You must hold an offer for one of the specified courses. You must also hold or be expecting to achieve a 2:1+ or equivalent in your undergraduate degree.

  • How are the scholarships awarded?

    The scholarship will be awarded as a partial or full fee reduction, depending the value of the scholarship.

  • Further information

    Unsuccessful scholarship applicants for the Structural Geology with Geophysics scholarship and Exploration Geophysics industry scholarship, who are not in receipt of any other source of funding, will be considered for the Petroleum Leeds Scholarship (one award per programme of £5,000) Unsuccessful scholarship applicants for the Exploration Geophysics industry scholarship, who are not in receipt of any other source of funding, will be considered for the Marsden Alumnus Scholarship (one award, usually covering the programme Tuition Fee).

    Any international applicant who has been offered a place on any of the Masters degree courses within the School of Earth and Environment, and who demonstrates academic excellence (2.1+ or equivalent), professional experience and/or voluntary experience can apply for this scholarship.

These awards are available to international students who wish to undertake taught postgraduate study in 2019/20.

  • Value - what money is on offer

    These awards will contribute up to £22,000 towards academic fees for candidates liable to pay fees at the full-cost rate for international students.

    They are available to new taught postgraduates only and are available for one year only.
