Dr Debbie Rosen

The Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM) and the Centre for Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics (COMET) provide the UK with core strategic research programmes in the exploitation of satellite measurements to study the Earth’s cryosphere and geohazards.

The directorships of CPOM and COMET are based in the School of Earth and Environment (Professors Andy Shepherd and Tim Wright), and the centres are distributed around 8 universities across the UK. Both centres receive long-term strategic funding from the Natural Environment Research Council, and their work is in partnership with the British Geological Survey, the British Antarctic Survey, the National Oceanography Centre, the National Centre for Earth Observation, and the UK Met Office.

As General Manager, I work with the directors to manage and lead CPOM and COMET operations, maintain a strategic overview of the centres, liaise with staff in partner institutions, coordinate the communication, reporting and assessment of each centre’s achievements, oversee strategic projects and initiatives, and seek new opportunities for both centres.
