I am a Research Fellow in Earth Observation of the Polar Regions in the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds, working in the Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Sciences (ICAS). Previously, I was a PhD student at the University of St Andrews with Tom Cowton.
My research centres on understanding the effect of the ocean on the stability of the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets. To do this, I combine satellite observations of ice dynamics with modelling of ocean circulation. More specifically, I use optical and radar satellite imagery to track the flow of ice in regions that are influenced by the ocean. I combine these observations with detailed numerical modelling of ocean circulation to examine spatial and temporal patterns of submarine melting in locations where the ice meets the ocean, and to examine the processes that influence oceanic heat delivery to the most vulnerable parts of the ice sheet margins.
