Profile

I am a Forest Science and Policy Fellow in the School of Earth and Environment. My background is in studying how land use management affects carbon storage in peatlands and forests, and I am interested in using interdisciplinary and paleoecological approaches to address current conservation questions.

My PhD in Environmental Geography was awarded by the University of York in 2021. I am part of the team funded by the United Bank of Carbon (UBoC), and I provide scientific support across a range of UBoC affiliated projects including Gair Wood, the University of Leeds woodland creation project.

Research interests

Gair Wood is the University of Leeds research woodland. Planted in 2023, it aims to establish a new native, broadleaf dominated woodland of more than 60,000 trees in the north of Leeds. The site has been designed to host several long term experiments and is available as a venue research and teaching for the colleagues at the University of Leeds and collaborators at other institutes. Please get in touch if you would like to explore using the site for your work.
