The study explores the factors controlling anvil optical depth in relation to deep convective cloud growth and the anvil lifecycle. The research involves two approaches: 1) analysing microphysical and dynamical processes during convection using DCMEX measurements and satellite data, and 2) applying anvil tracking to link anvil cloud feedbacks to lifecycle changes. The project output will inform wider cloud controlling factor analysis, and enhance our understanding of microphysical controls on anvil cloud albedo.
