- Thesis title: Active antimicrobial food packaging using biological potential from Malaysian medicinal plants
- Supervisors: Dr Lisa Marshall, Dr. Evi Paximada, Dr Melvin Holmes
Profile
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and a master’s degree in Science from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), respectively, in Malaysia. Currently, I am in my second year of PhD study at the School of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Leeds.
Research interests
My current research focuses on food microbiology, food safety, and the development of active antimicrobial food packaging using Malaysian medicinal plants. My previous master research focused on the identification of active anticariogenic metabolites in Piper cubeba L. through 1H NMR-based metabolomics. These include the study of the antibacterial potential of P. cubeba against cariogenic bacteria, the evaluation of the toxicity and anti-inflammatory activities of plant extracts, and the putative identification of active metabolites using 1H NMR via multivariate data analysis (MVDA).
