Profile

Biography

As a social science researcher with interdisciplinary research interests, I began my PhD study journey in geography through a circuitous path, which virtually let me mature through the whole process, and now I viscerally enjoy the research areas which I’m working on. The exploration towards these areas will be my lifelong career pursuit and internal drive.

After completing an undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism in Nanjing, China in 2012, I was directly admitted into the master research program in sociology at the same university with a GPA of 4.59 (total score: 5.0). During my masters’ study, I was awarded the Chinese National Scholarship - the highest award for PGR students in China, 2014. I was also an active student leader with the role of vice president of PGR student union at the school of public administration from 2014 to 2015. Starting from December 2014, I worked as an intern at the headquarters of Alibaba Group in Hangzhou, China, where I had a fruitful experience and enhanced my perspective on life.

After a period of career exploration, I found my deepest career interest is working in a higher education system, thus after graduation in June 2015, I took the position as a member of the administration staff through open recruitment at China Pharmaceutical University, where I worked for four years, offering career planning, academic and psychological support for 231 undergraduate students whose major is pharmaceutics. Since October 2020, I’ve been very delighted to be a PhD student in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Leeds.
