Dr Cheng Wen

Profile

I received multi-disciplinary training in environmental science (BSc) and environmental economics (PhD). My PhD study used non-market valuation methods (Contingent Valuation and Choice Experiments) to inform the design of Payments for Ecosystem Services schemes to protect water resources. After completing my PhD study, I have gained extensive experience of working on multi/inter-disciplinary research projects covering a wide range of topics and involving survey studies in both developing and developed countries, such as climate services and information needs in China, public attitudes towards visual impact of onshore wind turbines in the UK, sustainable soil fertility management in Kenya, renewable energy mini-grids in Indonesia, Uganda, Tanzania, and Congo-Brazzaville. I received the “Best Reviewer Award” from the journal Energy Research & Social Science in 2023. My current research focuses on farmers’ behavioural changes in soil nutrient management for reducing diffuse water pollution in Northern Ireland.
