Profile

I first joined the School of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Leeds in 2021 as a Master’s student.

Following my Master’s, I continued at the School in a six‑month contract role aimed at strengthening industrial engagement for students. I later gained industry experience working in a technical team focused on frozen food category. Working within an SME offered me a wide range of responsibilities - conducting internal audits, ensuring compliance with BRCGS Global Standards for Food Safety within a Halal‑certified manufacturing site, carrying out routine inspections, and resolving quality and food safety issues. I also created product specifications, developed standard operating procedures (SOPs), and led product improvement and new line trials.

Before becoming a Teaching Fellow, I worked as an Industrial Teaching Assistant across several modules, supporting delivery and assessment while strengthening the integration of professional practice into teaching.
In my current role as an Industrial Engagement Teaching Fellow, I lead two industry‑focused modules and contribute to several others through teaching and assessment support. Alongside my teaching responsibilities, I organise a wide range of industrial engagement activities to strengthen students’ exposure to real‑world food sector practices.Within the School, I also hold two academic leadership roles. As Deputy Undergraduate Admissions Officer, I coordinate and organise open days and offer‑holder events, ensuring prospective students gain meaningful insight into our programmes. As International Outreach Lead, I work to enhance the global visibility of our Food Science and Nutrition (FSN) programmes, supporting international recruitment and helping maintain the School’s diverse and culturally rich community. environments. I am also heavily involved in innovative projects, like developing the Virtual Immersive Factory Tours in collaboration with the Digital Education Team and UK Food Industries. This project aims to transform teaching and assessment through immersive, authentic, industry‑informed learning experiences. I am also actively exploring partnerships with industry to design innovative authentic assessments.
