Profile
I am a Lecturer in Statistics and Data Analytics at the School of Food Science & Nutrition, University of Leeds and have a very multidisciplinary background with analytical and extensive work experience spanning across providing statistical input to data-centric projects to developing and implementing analysis approaches. I received my PhD in mathematics (applied statistics) from the University of Sheffield and my master’s degree in Statistics from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria.
In April 2021, I was a Teaching Fellow at the School of Mathematics, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Leeds. Prior to that, I was a Teaching Associate (in the School of Mathematics and Statistics) and a Tutor in Statistics (at the Mathematics and Statistics Help Centre) of the University of Sheffield.
Research interests
My primary research interest is in the interface of statistics and computational methods for the analyses of state-of-the-art datasets for various real-life applications especially in food science and nutrition. In particular, I am interested in developing new approaches/methods to research that span across building and applying robust statistical approaches and computational analysis resources to sort through increasingly rich and massive datasets with the view to optimize precision and efficiency, to enhance productivity and maximize impact. I am interested in providing statistical input to data-centric projects, developing and implementing analysis approaches to interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects. Developing and applying computationally efficient and statistically robust methods to sort through datasets to identify complex patterns, functionalities, interactions, and associations to benefit businesses and companies, improve human health, enhance productivity and maximise impact is the general goal of my research drive.
I also have an interest in a variety of statistical biases inherent in data analysis across many fields, with a particular focus on food science and nutrition. I am happy to discuss potential collaborations, MSc projects and PhD training/study in any of these areas.
