Nutrition Society - Archives Interactive

Come and experience Archives Interactive, a unique activity from the Nutrition Society Archives.

Friday 8th March, 11am – 3pm, Parkinson Court, University of Leeds – OPEN TO ALL

Come and experience Archives Interactive, a unique activity from the Nutrition Society Archives. Founded in 1941, the Nutrition Society is one of the largest learned societies for nutrition in the world and is dedicated to advancing nutritional science.

Engage with the voices of pioneering nutrition scientists from the past, and see how nutrition narratives have changed over time as the articulation of scientific ideas has evolved.

Archives Interactive allows you to respond to statements selected from the Society’s archive documents and add your opinion to the debate. At the Interactive Cloud, write the name of someone in science who has inspired and motivated you.

Of course, in the spirit of International Women’s Day, the archive will celebrate the one-hundred-year anniversary of the 1918 Representation of the People Act which granted UK women the right to vote for the first time, showcasing some of the achievements of women in nutritional science over the decades.

Read the letter that microbiologist and suffragist Dame Harriette Chick sent to the Morning Post in 1909 rallying university students to support the right for women to vote, and find out about the life of nutritional physiologist and suffragette Dr Isabella Leitch (1890-1980).

How would you like your work to be remembered? If you could add to the evidence base, what would you put in the archive?
