Profile

Cath works in the School of Geography for Yorkshire Integrated Catchment Solutions Programme (iCASP). This research programme was initially funded by the National Environment Research Council and uses environmental science to come up with solutions to catchment challenges. Our 50 current projects focus on: reducing flood and drought risk; improving the resilience of cities to climate change; preserving valuable areas of peat in the moors; developing sustainable agriculture; and devising business cases for greening city developments and imrpoving water quality. Previously Cath worked as a communications specialist for DEFRA and the Environment Agency with a focus on flood alleviation schemes, natural flood management project and improving resilience to climate change. She has also worked as a communications manager for the NHS for 14 years including Airedale Hospital and NHS Bradford and Airedale and in public relations for Leeds City Council, Newcastle City Council and York City Council.Cath trained as a journalist in the West Midlands and worked on local newspapers including The Express and Star and Birmingham Chronicale. She has an English degree.
