The United Nations, climate change and you: how to get involved in COP29 and beyond

This event will explore the role of research in climate change negotiation and guide researchers to make their work accessible to government negotiators and other key actors.

The United Nations climate change negotiations rely on relevant and current climate research to move towards effective outcomes that support ambitious international climate policy and action. And as an official observer, the University of Leeds has opportunities to engage in these negotiations.  

But what does this involve? And how can researchers navigate these often complex processes to ensure their research is available and accessible for government negotiators and other key stakeholders to draw upon? 

Please join us at this event to hear from several colleagues who have engaged with these negotiations in various ways. They will provide an overview of the processes involved, explore the place of research in the negotiations and highlight how researchers can most effectively engage in them. They will also highlight some key resources that researchers can draw upon.  

There will be time for questions and lunch will be provided after the event for those attending in person.
