Dr Julia Martin-Ortega

I’m Julia Martin-Ortega, the programme leader for the Sustainability and Environmental Management BSc / MEnv, BSc programme. My role as programme manager is varied. I’m responsible for the design and development of the course to ensure that it offers a coherent set of modules and a large part of this involves actively seeking feedback from you as students on the course. I’ll meet with you at the beginning and end of the year to talk to you about this. Another part of my role is to provide guidance to you about the programme and the modules you want to take, as well as any other programme related queries you may have.

Barely a day goes by without the media mentioning a sustainability challenge of one form or another. From climate change and food prices to energy and wildlife, sustainability issues form some of today’s most important debates. Students on the School of Earth and Environment’s BSc Sustainability and Environmental Management programme are therefore at the forefront of academic and policy thinking on these issues.

During the three years on the BSc Sustainability and Environmental Management programme, you will develop the skills to research sustainability problems and implement management solutions and will be able to understand how different groups of people are affected by (and affect) particular sustainability challenges.

I look forward to meeting you in person soon.
