IPCC Special report on the Oceans and the Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC)

Professor Alexander Milner (University of Birmingham) will be a guest presenter at the River Basin Processes and Management cluster meeting.

His talk will be focussing on his reflections on authoring the IPCC report and is likely to be of interest to a wide range of researchers.

In September 2019 the IPCC released a special report on the effects of a changing climate on the oceans and the cryosphere. This talk by one of the lead authors of the cryosphere chapter will summarize and overview the main findings including impacts on precipitation, snow/glacier cover, runoff, hazards, ecosystems and tourism.

Snow monkeys and salmon will also appear. Insights will also be provided into the entire process by which these reports are produced by the IPCC and the strict protocols under which they are prepared. These insights may be surprising but important to know when you read IPCC reports. The report can be downloaded/viewed at;
