Ben Bradley

Profile

I am a PhD student based in the Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science, which sits within the School of Earth and Environment. I am funded by the NERC Panorama DTP and my project has a CASE partnership with the Met Office.

My research focuses on satellite observations of carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from wildfires. I am using data from the TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) and the chemical transport model TOMCAT to investigate global changes and connections between CO concentrations, wildfire regimes, and the carbon cycle.

I completed my MPhys Physics degree at the University of Oxford in 2024. During my fourth-year master’s project, I used satellite data from the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) onboard the MetOp satellites to detect sulfur dioxide from volcanic plumes.
