Profile

As of Spring 2023, I have started a 2 year secondment (until July 2025), as the School’s Deputy Research Support Manager, this is a 0.5 FTE role, which I will undertake alongside my RSA role.

In my Research Support Administrator (RSA) role, I supported the Institute of Applied Geoscience since its inception in 2013, and was also a Project Officer, supporting Geosolutions Leeds.

From August 2023, I will be supporting the Sustainability Research Institute, in addition to my secondment as Deputy Research Support Manager.

Prior to working at Leeds, for 9 years, I worked on a number of UK Government and European funded projects to support the retention, promotion and progression of women in science, engineering, technology and maths (STEM), and also worked in marketing in the advanced composites industry. I was the School's Equality and Inclusion coordinator (stepping down in 2019), a member of the Faculty E&I committee, and a member of the Faculty and University Athena SWAN self assessment teams. Most recently I undertook a secondment to cover the School's Research Manager role (May 2018 - April 2019).

My current role includes:

  • Supporting the School's Research and Innovation Committee
  • Supporting the School's REF 2021 submission, and preparedness activities for the next REF2029
  • Developing processes to improve research support
  • Communications (Twitter, SharePoint, website, newsletter, promotional materials)
  • Meeting, event and away day planning and support
  • Institute finances
  • Support for academics undertaking Consultancy work (costings, quotations, liaison with client)
  • Support for academics running Joint Industry Projects (JIPs)
  • Administrative support for the Institute Director(s)
  • Supporting the School’s post-Covid re-entry activities
