Sam Haynes

I am a Research Support Administrator, supporting the Institute of Applied Geoscience, and a Project Officer, supporting Geosolutions Leeds.

Prior to working at Leeds, for 9 years, I worked on a number of UK Government and European funded projects to support the retention, promotion and progression of women in science, engineering, technology and maths (STEM), and also worked in marketing in the advanced composites industry. Until recently, I was also the School's Equality and Inclusion coordinator, and a member of the Faculty E&I committee, and a member of the Faculty and University Athena SWAN self assessment teams. Most recently I undertook a secondment to cover the School's Research Manager role (May 2018 - April 2019).

My role supporting IAG and Geosolutions Leeds includes:

  • Supporting the School's Research and Innovation Committee
  • Supporting the School's REF 2021 submission
  • Communications (Twitter, SharePoint, website, newsletter, promotional materials)
  • Meeting, event and away day planning and support
  • Institute finances
  • Support for academics undertaking Consultancy work (costings, quotations, liaison with client)
  • Support for academics running Joint Industry Projects (JIPs)
  • Administrative support for the IAG & Geosolutions Leeds Directors
  • Supporting the School’s post-Covid re-entry activities
