Olivier Jean Leonce Manzi

Profile

I am a plant ecophysiologist with a strong interest in how tropical trees respond to heat and drought stress, particularly under changing climatic conditions. My research explores the physiological mechanisms that drive tree resilience and vulnerability, with field experience spanning diverse tropical ecosystems, from the rainforests of French Guiana and Madagascar to montane forests in Rwanda.

I completed my PhD at the University of Gothenburg, where I investigated the responses of tropical trees to warming as part of the Rwanda TREE project. I’m now working as a Research Fellow in African Forest Measurement, contributing to the CongoFOR1.5 and AfriTRON initiatives. My work focuses on long-term forest monitoring, ecophysiological research, and scaling insights across Central African forests.
