This project addressed the challenge of demonstrating the benefits of rail accessibility interventions (e.g. the provision of step-free access to platforms and trains) by means of a standard appraisal framework. The work reviewed best practice, developed a practical cost-benefit analysis (CBA) framework and supports the joint use of multi-criteria analysis (MCA) and CBA.
The project was funded by GBRTT and RSSB, via the academic partnership in rail economics between RSSB and ITS Leeds
