Professor Caroline Peacock elected as Vice President of the European Association of Geochemistry
The European Association of Geochemistry (EAG) Council chose Professor Peacock as their next Vice President, a role beginning in 2025 and followed by President from 2027.
The EAG promotes scientific research through publishing, events and awards. Professor Peacock is an expert in biogeochemistry and Earth system science.
She has previously been awarded the EAG Houtermans Award in 2015 and a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award in 2018.
She investigates how the geological, chemical and biological components of the Earth combine to regulate Earth’s systems and processes.
Her work combines laboratory experiments, cutting-edge analytical techniques and advanced computational modelling to understand the interactions between these components.
She is the academic lead for the Cohen Geochemistry Labs and the Aqueous Analysis Facility at the University of Leeds.
Her current research project, ‘Bottom-up controls on ocean chemistry,’ explores the mineralogical controls that affect the chemistry of the oceans, to understand the evolution of Earth’s atmosphere and biosphere.
